“I just finished reading your article on saimin in my local paper, The Sun Chronicle, Attleboro, MA. It took me back to the 50‘s when I lived in Honolulu and the saimin wagon came thru the neighborhoods and sold soup in paper, envelope-shaped containers. It had translucent, long, rice noodles, thin slivers of pork, and chopped green onion tops in a fragrant broth. I don‘t remember the price but it was always a treat, and what a great way to learn a new culture for a hawlee from the mainland. I‘m glad to see that the saimin is still around and popular.”

“I knew my Chicken Chili was going to be tasty and knew that my guests would say: “You‘ve done it again.” How can I go wrong? I used a recipe that had been tested and made by the Barefoot Contessa in your latest issue. I have yet to try one of her recipes and failed. She is such a perfectionist in her work, and she makes it so easily for us to duplicate her recipes, that it is impossible to go wrong.”

“Who gets the RELISH insert in their Wed. paper? I‘m just looking at the cover of today‘s issue and there are some delicious looking bars. The issue also has some Panini recipes and a bunch of other misc recipes that look good. I noticed that they have a website too if anyone is interested - http://www.relishmag.com”

“We get it in our daily paper as well, and I was drooling over some of the recipes yesterday - that Chorizo Pasta Salad is on the menu for tomorrow night, and the Green Tomato Relish is in my “to-try” file. The green tomato recipes are all by Crescent Dragonwagon, for those who are fans of hers.” ClaraB, 9/7/06
