S'mores

Forget about boring old graham crackers and marshmallows—here's something better. From a Cookies and Crème Brownie S’more to a Black Forest Cupcake S’more, author Lisa Adams offers delightfully creative variations on a traditional campfire treat in S’mores: Gourmet Treats for Every Occasion (Gibbs Smith, Publisher, Hardcover, $16.95, 2007).

With helpful tips on techniques for roasting the perfect marshmallow and properly melting a piece of chocolate, S’mores is a staple for every campsite and backyard barbeque. Adams includes so many pairings and substitutes for the three original ingredients that it is impossible not to find something for everyone among these desserts.

Here’s her deliciously creative Smashing Pumpkins S’more.
