Cookie Break

Heaven knows, there's no shortage of cookie recipes this time of year, and most of us have plenty. Still, we buy food magazines, search cookbooks and scour websites with cookie countdowns. We just can't seem to get enough. But why is it that, despite all the cookie recipes we amass, our mom's and grandma's recipes are the ones we pull out? Maybe it's because the holidays are not really about cookies but about memories and tradition and family. Here, then, is an old-fashioned cookie recipe that, although not handed down through generations, tastes like it was. For more cookie recipes, old-fashioned and new, go to relishmag.com
