Candy Bar Cookies
My daughter and I made Heath Bar cookies the other day. We couldn't find the large Heath Bars, so bought the mini sizes-like the ones you get for Halloween. And as we were bemoaning how politically incorrect it was (or I was anyway) to unwrap all these individually wrapped candy bars just to chop them up for cookies, it dawned on me what a great idea these cookies are for post-Halloween treats. After about a week, everyone gets pretty tired of looking at the candy-even the kids. So, if you're looking for a way to use up the candy (without the guilt of tossing it in the trash can), try these cookies. Almost any chocolate-y candy bar will work-Butterfingers, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, Heath Bars, Milky Ways, Snickers and Kit Kats. Using a variety of candy bars makes standard chocolate chips cookies immensely more interesting, and the kids can have fun guessing what bits of candy are there.

Your current issue (October) is superb. I want to try ALL of the recipes. I like that you choose healthy recipes with basic (and not too exotic) ingredients. From scallops to molasses cookies to yummy orzo-I can't wait. Thanks so much.
