Bleu Cheese Mashed Red Potatoes Recipe

8 to 10 medium red potatoes
5 cloves garlic, halved
2 tablespoons crumbled bleu cheese
1 tablespoon mayonnaise
1 tablespoon butter
1 cup milk or cream
Salt and pepper, to taste

Wash the potatoes, but do not peel. Boil them for about 20 minutes. Add the garlic cloves, and continue to cook until the potatoes are tender. Meanwhile, set out the measured amounts of cheese, mayonnaise, butter, and milk to bring these ingredients to room temperature. When the potatoes and garlic are soft enough to mash, remove from the heat and drain. Place in a large bowl, and blend with other ingredients, adding only 1/2 cup milk to start. Whip until fluffy. Adjust the amount of milk to achieve the desired consistency. Season with salt and pepper.
